Shardul Thakur batting record: Ben Stokes hilariously checks Thakur’s bat after getting hit for a six in Pune ODI
Ben Stokes hilariously checks Thakur’s bat: The English all-rounder and the Indian pacer shared an amusing on-field moment.
During the third ODI of the ongoing England’s tour of India in Pune, India pacer Shardul Thakur once again put on display his capability with the bat in hand playing a much-needed cameo for his team.
Coming in to bat at No. 8 in the 40th over, Thakur got off the mark with a mind-bowling six off England spearhead Mark Wood. With all-rounder Krunal Pandya (25) at the other end, Thakur went on to better the southpaw scoring 30 (21) with the help of one four and three sixes.
Thakur, who hit a four and six off England’s Reece Topley, appeared to have impressed opposition all-rounder Ben Stokes after hitting a six against him in the 45th over.
Having taken on Stokes successfully, Thakur shared an amusing moment with him when the Englishman checked Thakur’s bat to see its quality. It was on the last delivery of the 46th over when Thakur edged a Wood delivery behind the wickets to England captain Jos Buttler.
After Buttler won the toss and chose to field, English bowlers bundled out India for 329 in 48.2 overs. Despite being losing wickets in clusters, they scored a competitive total on the back of quickfire individual half-centuries from Rishabh Pant (78), Shikhar Dhawan (67) and Hardik Pandya (64).
Shardul Thakur batting record
Thakur, who had scored his maiden international half-century in the historic Gabba Test earlier this year, scored his career-best score in white-ball formats today. In eight ODI innings, Thakur’s 107 runs have come at an average and strike rate of 21.40 and 144.59 respectively including a match-winning cameo against West Indies in Cuttack in 2019.
As far as domestic cricket is concerned, Thakur has scored seven and one half-century in first-class and List A formats respectively.
