Glenn Maxwell six off Krunal Pandya: Virat Kohli and fans in awe of Maxwell as he thwacks Pandya on Chennai roof
Glenn Maxwell six: The Australian all-rounder made his presence felt at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in IPL 2021 season opener.
During the first match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore in Chennai, Royal Challengers Bangalore all-rounder Glenn Maxwell dispatched Mumbai Indians all-rounder Krunal Pandya for a 100-metre six.
It all happened on the first delivery of the 11th over when Maxwell fearlessly stepped out to hit a gargantuan six which ended up hitting the roof of the MA Chidamaram Stadium.
In addition to becoming a source of amazement for fans who were waiting for him to fire in the IPL, Maxwell also impressed his captain Virat Kohli as the latter was stunned to see the distance the ball traveled after hitting Maxwell’s bat.
Among the three debutants for Royal Challengers tonight, Maxwell walked in to bat at No. 4 in the sixth over of a 160-run chase. Maxwell, who hit a couple of boundaries off Indians spinner Rahul Chahar in the eighth over, gave hints of finding his touch from the word go.
Having failed to hit a six for Kings XI Punjab (now Punjab Kings) throughout IPL 2020, Maxwell ended his drought in the best possible manner against Pandya. On the first delivery of the following over by Chahar, Maxwell reverse-swept the leg-spinner for his second six of the night.
Earlier, Mumbai posted 159/9 on the back of Chris Lynn’s 49 (35) in 20 overs after Kohli won the toss and chose to bowl. For Bangalore, pacer Harshal Patel was the pick of the bowlers with bowling figures of 4-0-27-5.
