Is Quinton de Kock playing: The South African wicket-keeper batsman had missed the last match for the defending champions.

During the fifth match of the ongoing 14th season of the Indian Premier League between Kolkata Knight Riders and Mumbai Indians in Chennai, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan has won the toss and elected to field.

“We are going to bowl first. Looks similar to the last one, not sure if the dew will come in. We are delighted, trying to play aggressive brand of cricket. It’s a challenge to continue in that manner. Shakib [Al Hasan] was handed a special cap to mark his 50th game for KKR,” Morgan told Star Sports at the toss.

Coming on the back of a 10-run victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the same venue, Knight Riders will take the field without making any changes to their Playing XI.

Is Quinton de Kock playing today’s IPL 2021 match vs KKR?

Much like Morgan, Mumbai Indians captain Rohit Sharma revealed that he too wanted to field first. Highlighting their mistakes against Royal Challengers Bangalore in the season opener, Sharma hoped to register their maiden victory in the tournament.

“We would have fielded first as well. There was some dew in the first game against RCB but the ball was turning. Last game we were 20 runs short, so we need to bat well. Of course you want to win every game, but we didn’t play to our potential in the first game.

“We need to understand where we went wrong and learn from it. We got only 30 runs in the last 4 overs, that was our mistake. We also discussed the shots to be playing on slow pitches,” Sharma told Star Sports during the toss.

Unlike Kolkata, Mumbai have made a solitary change to their XI by bringing in wicket-keeper batsman Quinton de Kock for batsman Chris Lynn. de Kock, who had missed the last match as he was undergoing a mandatory seven-day quarantine period, will open the batting against Sharma tonight.
