“We’re deeply sorry for the posts”: Dulux Take Down Posts Ridiculing Tottenham
The paint company made a horrendous gaffe on Twitter today
Dulux were clearly not in the right frame of mind earlier today. Announcing the news of their association with Premier League side Tottenham as the club’s official paint partner, Dulux did more damage to Tottenham’s image than good.
Becoming the first ever paint sponsors of any club, Dulux took to Twitter to reveal the news. However, what followed is what left everyone stunned with Tottenham’s avid supporters in particular left irked by the paint company’s shenanigans.
Dulux’s Twitter profile had gone berserk as it mocked its new associate through a string of distasteful comments. Replying to comments made to their tweet, Dulux took a jibe at Tottenham’s trophy drought.
The Dulux account replied with “You know this David” and an image of an empty trophy cabinet saying “for sale, unused trophy cabinet” and a phone number when asked by an user about painting the trophy cabinet.
When another Twitter user suggested painting the “dusty trophy cabinet”, the Dulux account mocked: “Don’t be silly, surfaces should be dust free before painting.”
When one Tottenham supporter asked whether the Dulux dog can play CB, the UK Dulux account replied: “He might do a better job Chris.”
Dulux Apologise To Tottenham
The comments whilst giggled at by opposition supporters clearly didn’t go down well with Tottenham. Dulux seemed to have recognised their gaffe as well as the company deleted all its comments on Twitter, subsequently posting an apology for its actions.
“We’re deeply sorry for the posts from Dulux this morning in response to the announcement of our relationship with @SpursOfficial,” the apology on Twitter went onto read.
“These do not reflect how proud we are to be the Official Paint Supplier of the Club. We’re investigating what happened and apologise to all Spurs fans.”
Tottenham will meanwhile be looking to get back to footballing matters with the club set to take on Everton tomorrow. The contest if a pivotal one for the club as it looks to steady a rocking ship, one which was battered 3-1 earlier last week.
