“I gotta be MVP”: Stephen Curry surmises that voters will pick Nikola Jokic or someone else as MVP despite his record-breaking season

Warriors’ superstar Stephen Curry believes he should be the MVP this season, though he knows that his likelihood of winning is small.

April has been a good month for the Golden State Warriors, and it is all thanks to one person. Stephen Curry has been on an absolute blinder of a form as of late, leading the Dubs to a 6-4 record in their last 10 games.

Curry could not continue his hot streak tonight, as the Warriors lost to the Washington Wizards 118-114 tonight. Steph managed to score only 18 points tonight. This marked his first game in 12 games where he scored under 30 points.

Stephen Curry was performing at a high level this season already, before his tailbone injury. However, since he returned from the same, Curry has been unstoppable. He broke Kobe Bryant‘s record as he recorded 11 straight games with 30+ points.

Curry has been averaging just a little under 40 points per game in April, while shooting over 50% from 3s. He overtook Bradley Beal for the scoring title this season, averaging 31.4 points per game for the season.

There have been a lot of people supporting Curry for MVP this season, including Magic Johnson. Curry was recently on the Rex Chapman show.

There he was asked if he believes he deserves the MVP laurels this season. Steph replied by saying, “I mean, I gotta be. I probably won’t get it, but whatever.”

Even though Steph has been in a ridiculously amazing form, the current day NBA honors the MVP accolades depending upon how your team is performing as well. Even though Curry has been by far the most valuable player this season, there are other candidates who have teams performing better than the Warriors are.

The chances of Curry winning the MVP award this season are rather slim, yet not totally out of the question. If Curry continues his rampage, and leads the Warriors to the play-in games, I believe he should be given the award.
