Is LaMelo Ball playing tonight vs Pistons? Hornets release injury report for Rookie of the Year favorite ahead of clash against Jerami Grant and co

Ahead of the Hornets-Pistons game, Charlotte Rookie LaMelo Ball has been cleared to play and could potentially return to the lineup.

LaMelo Ball is easily one of the most entertaining players to watch. Due to his captivating style of play, Ball has made himself a must-watch for every basketball enthusiast. Despite having one of the most untraditional routes to the league, Melo has been superseding all the surreal expectations set for him.

Despite the added pressure of being New Orleans combo guard Lonzo Ball’s brother, his loud-mouthed father too attracts many targets on Melo’s back.

Michael Jordan’s franchise too admitted how they never really expected the 19-year-old to turn out so good. However, back on March 20th, against the Los Angeles Clippers, the former NBL Rookie of the Year, suffered a wrist fracture. At that time, it appeared that his rookie season came to an end after playing just 41 games.

LaMelo Ball has been promoted questionable in the team’s latest injury report

Luckily for Charlotte fans, there is some good news. Ahead of Saturday’s Charlotte Hornets-Detroit Pistons match, Ball has been upgraded from being out to be questionable for the match. While it isn’t yet confirmed whether or not LaMelo will set foot on the floor, there is a 50/50 possibility for the same.

Hornets coach James Borrego spoke about the return plan for LaMelo. Borrego revealed:

“We are not going to run them (Ball and Monk) major minutes, especially early on. Their runs early won’t be heavy runs. Four- or five-minute runs when we get there. Obviously, we are not there yet for sure. When we do get either or both of them back, we’ll ease them in. We are not going to play full minutes yet.”

“But it’s a big boost for us when that time comes, just to have that energy back. Whenever that is. Whether that’s (Saturday) or within the next week, that’s our hope.”

It would be an understatement to say that LaMelo Ball has been beneficial for the Hornets. Last year, the Hornets finished the season with a poor 23-42 record. However, with Ball and a few other notable changes, the Hornets are a much better 30-32, hoping for a playoff push.

Having the front runner for the Rookie of the Year return would obviously be vital for Charlotte. Especially during the last 10 games, when they are trying to make a successful playoff push while avoiding the play-in tournament.
