Joel Glazer Issues Statement Of Apology Amidst Widespread Protests: The Manchester United co-chairman retreated the Glazers commitment towards the club in a heartfelt message

The inception of the Super League has had wide lying ramifications in the world of football. Despite all Premier League clubs withdrawing from the ill advanced league, the clubs have lost trust with their supporters with widespread protests marring these clubs across the last couple of weeks.

Rather than dying down and quelling as the days have gone by, the protests have only intensified. One club which has in particular had to face the ire of its club’s supporters is Manchester United with things turning extremely ugly at the club.

Joel Glazer Issues Apology

The side’s supporters ended up storming the premises of the club’s stadium leading to the postponement of the club’s tie with Liverpool. In the aftermath of the calamitous protests, the club’s co-chairman Joel Glazer has issued a statement of apology.

“We have supported sustained investment in the team over many years, and that will continue this summer,” Joel Glazer said as he asserted the Glazers’ commitment to the club’s cause.

“I am personally committed to ensuring that we strengthen this relationship in future” whilst also adding “I want to reassure you that my family and I care deeply about Manchester United and feel a profound sense of responsibility to protect and enhance its strength for the long-term, while respecting its values and traditions.”

Joel’s words are set to fall on deaf ears though with the club’s supporters said to be in extreme furore over the Glazers handling of the club. For a bevy of seasons now, the side’s supporters have lambasted the Glazers for a lack of proper direction despite the American owners persistently pouring in money into the side.

The club was most recently downed 3-2 by AS Roma in the semi-final of the Europa League. However, despite the defeat, the side managed to set up a summit clash with Villareal in the wake of its 6-2 triumph earlier last week.
