“The video would last two hours” – Toto Wolff pays tribute to Hamilton’s century of pole positions
“The video would last two hours” – Mercedes F1 team principal Toto Wolff is stunned by Lewis Hamilton’s century in pole positions, as he chases a record 8th world title.
Toto Wolff has rejected claims that Lewis Hamilton’s century of poles is down to him having the fastest car on the grid. He has asked his driver to continue with this incredible work – on and off the tarmac – as quoted by Italy24news.
“There will always be people who will see it this way. The stronger you get and the more jealousy, the more envy and the more negativity you will encounter. What they say is totally irrelevant. If we listened to all the things that are said, we would be very distracted from our work.
“Andrew Shovlin explained to me that if we put all his laps on pole together, the video would last two hours. This is enough to explain what it has achieved.

“We are talking about an exceptional driver, who has grown as a personality on and off the track. It is clear that this is something that he does much better than others. Each time I am asked if this was the best lap he has done, or if it was his best race…”
“Lewis is just operating at a level never seen before. Even on Saturday, the car was probably not perfect, but he beat the others and one hundred poles is an incredible result.”
Hamilton is set to continue with Mercedes, with a multi-year contract being touted. He is currently leading the drivers’ standings and looks set to win yet another world title.
