RCB latest news: RCB’s parent company Diageo pledges INR 45 crore for India’s COVID-19 fight
Diageo pledges INR 45 crore: Yet another donation has come from the prominent Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore’s parent company Diageo has pledged a whopping amount of INR 45 crore towards India’s ongoing stiff fight against COVID-19 pandemic.
The development was shared minutes ago when RCB took to their social media platform Twitter account to share an official release around the whole initiative.
It is worth mentioning that Royal Challengers, in their individual capacity, had made a financial contribution towards healthcare infrastructure in Bengaluru and other cities earlier this month.

In addition to the same, RCB had announced to wear a special blue jersey in one of their IPL 2021 matches to show solidarity towards front line heroes. In the latest release, the franchise has mentioned that they will do the same whenever IPL 2021 resumes.
Diageo pledges INR 45 crore for India’s COVID-19 fight
While Royal Challengers are owned by United Spirits Limited, the same (USL) is a subsidiary of London-based multinational beverage alcohol company Diageo.
Under the initiative, Diageo will help nodal Government Hospitals in 21 districts across the country to set up Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) Oxygen Plants to create long-term oxygen capacity.
Additionally, Diageo will also provide state governments fully equipped, prefabricated 16-bed mini-hospital units with PSA oxygen plants in 15 most critical districts and medical equipment and other critical devices to public hospitals across 10 States.
“At a time when the country is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, we want to support the Government’s efforts and stand by the citizens of India.
“Long term medical infrastructure especially hospital beds and self-sufficiency in oxygen is what is needed most and we hope our contribution going into every State and UT will help play a part in India’s recovery. With this pledge, Diageo have so far contributed Rs 130 Cr towards Covid Relief,” Diageo Managing Director and CEO and RCB Chairman Anand Kripalu said in a statement.
Apart from Diageo and RCB, the likes of Pat Cummins, Brett Lee, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, Shikhar Dhawan, Sachin Tendulkar, Jaydev Unadkat, Nicholas Pooran, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Rishabh Pant and others had come forward to join hands regarding donating to various entities to bolster India’s fight against coronavirus.
In truncated IPL 2021, Royal Challengers are currently at the third position with five wins and two losses in seven matches.
