Jofra Archer Surgery Update: The English fast bowler has undergone another surgery to attain fitness on time for India Tests.

England fast bowler Jofra Archer continues to battle with injuries as he has undergone another surgery after injuring his elbow in Sussex vs Kent County Championship 2021 match earlier this month.

Archer, who has been facing trouble due to the same elbow injury since last year, has frequently missed international cricket on various tours. For an all-format spearhead such as Archer, it was always going to be a wise idea to get a procedure done to ensure no further hiccups to the same elbow.

It was an official statement from the ECB (England Cricket Board) which made public the development around Archer’s successful surgery. The right-arm bowler will now begin a rehabilitation period before taking part in any form of cricket.

“England and Sussex seam bowler Jofra Archer had surgery to address his long-standing elbow issues on Friday. Archer will now commence an intensive rehabilitation period working with the ECB and Sussex medical teams.

“His progress will be reviewed by his Consultant in approximately four weeks at which point further guidance will be provided as to when he can return to bowling,” ECB said in a statement.

Ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand, Archer would be hoping to attain full fitness before a five-match Test series against India. Not at the cost of risking him now but the English selectors might well test his fitness in a few white-ball matches in the imminent international summer before making the 26-year old player play a high-intensity five-day match.

It is worth mentioning that England will host India for a Test series between August 4 – September 14. In between the New Zealand and India Tests, England will host Sri Lanka and Pakistan for three T20Is and as many ODIs each.
