“Dennis Schoder had the audacity to want $80 million?” Kendrick Perkins rips into Lakers star for having 0 points in an embarrassing Game 5 loss to Devin Booker and the Suns
Kendrick Perkins goes off on Dennis Schoder for having 0 points in the Lakers blowout loss to the Suns in Anthony Davis’s absence.
The Phoenix Suns walked into their Game 5 date with the Los Angeles Lakers with a considerable amount of momentum on their side after having won Game 4 in Staples Center with a little help from Anthony Davis’s early exit from the bout due to a groin strain. Now, with the Lakers facing a relatively healthy Suns squad without LeBron James’s wingman, it was time for them to step up.
Unfortunately, Dennis Schroder and the lot of them all stunk up the Talking Stick Resort as they quickly fell into a 30 point deficit going into the second half. It was quite apparent from both teams’ body languages that the Lakers had given up as they looked around on their bench in confusion and distress, while guys like Devin Booker were bringing the ball up the court with nothing but gleeful smiles on their faces.
LeBron James had a decent game as he posted up 24 points on 47% shooting from the filed while dishing out 7 assists. It was nowhere near what was expected of the reigning Finals MVP in a crucial Game 5 but it wasn’t as abysmal as the starting point guard on his team, Dennis Schroder.
Kendrick Perkins doesn’t understand how Dennis Schroder wanted more than $80 million.
Dennis Schroder has played a pivotal role in the Lakers offense this season. Shooting the 3 at a fairly respectable clip while getting into the lane to draw fouls and/or collapse the defense for dishes out to the perimeter. It’s no doubt that Schoder is as crafty as point guards can get.
This doesn’t take away from the fact that in the most important game of his Lakers career, the German native had 0 points on 0-9 shooting from the field. He was also not his usual, aggressive self as he attempted no free throws in the contest.
Kendrick Perkins hilariously took to Twitter to show his disbelief at the fact that Dennis Schoder turned down a contract worth $84 million, just so he could underperform when the lights were the brightest.
The nerve of him turning down 80 plus million! I mean the audacity. https://t.co/NpGGZJHd2L

The fact of the matter for the purple and gold at the moment is that if Anthony Davis does not return in due time, the Phoenix Suns will handily deal with the defending champs and move into the second round of the Playoffs.
