Aakash Chopra does not want MS Dhoni in the Sri Lanka series
MS Dhoni is proving to a conundrum for the selectors.
While the former Indian skipper is worth his weight in gold in the 50 over format, Dhoni may not be as indispensable as he once was in the T20 format. For so long, Dhoni was the ultimate T20 finisher as the hart hitting batsman was able to boost the score during the last few overs.
But things have not been so as of late. The magic seems to have disappeared and Dhoni seems to eat up far too many balls at the early stages of his innings. The fact that he plays so low down the order only makes it worse as he wastes crucial deliveries.

Television pundit Aakash Chopra has even said that he would not want Dhoni for the upcoming Sri Lanka series.
“After this series (India vs New Zealand) is done, India are playing against Sri Lanka. They (SL) are not a top draw, and one can take chances and then maybe rethink once you go to South Africa, because you have few T20 matches against a top-ranked T20 side (South Africa). They will come hard at you.”
“For the Sri Lanka tour to India, maybe time is ripe to try somebody else, keep them in the loop. Because Dhoni’s numbers have overridden the last year and year and a half, it has dwindled,” Aakash Chopra further added to his lines.
There may be some reason to this, as India may not get a better opportunity to blood in some new talent. But whether or not they will take that decision is up in the air!
