“Gonna be racing for you today Mansour”– Lando Norris vows to give everything in the race to tribute the recently deceased Mansour Ojjeh.

McLaren’s team woke up with a piece of sad news ahead of the race day that their loyal Patreon Mansour Ojjeh has passed away at the age of 68, with McLaren’s official website confirming the news.

Ojjeh has been McLaren’s shareholder since 1984 and held a significant part in their history. As of now, McLaren has informed that they would be making a full-fledged statement after a while. In the meantime, several former McLaren drivers showered their condolences.

On the other hand, Lando Norris, moved by the news, also mourned his death on Twitter and vowed to give all on the track to tribute his presence in McLaren.

“Gonna be racing for you today Mansour. A legend within F1 but more importantly a great friend to me and many. Gonna miss your jokes and our laughs. Condolences to all family and friends. RIP Mansour,” wrote Norris on social media.

Norris would be starting from P9 on Sunday, as he was punished by the FIA for the red flag violation during the qualifying on Saturday.

Carlos Sainz also shares his regret

Meanwhile, former McLaren and now Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz immediately showed his condolences to Ojjeh’s family and McLaren at this hour of grief.

“Very sad to learn about Mansour’s passing. He was one of the most passionate and committed people I have ever met. My thoughts are with his amazing family and all the McLaren team. R.I.P,” wrote Sainz on Twitter.
