“Luka Doncic is the Mavs GOAT”: Dirk Nowitzki believes that the Slovenian prodigy has already eclipsed him as the greatest Dallas Maverick of all time
Former Dallas legend Dirk Nowitzki believes that Luka Doncic has already surpassed him as the greatest player in Mavericks history.
There is no other player quite like Luka Doncic. The Dallas Mavericks leader is only 22-years-old and is already considered to be one of the best players in the league. There is no denying the fact that Doncic is one of the future faces of the league.
Ever since Luka stepped on the hardwood, he had an immediate positive impact on the Dallas Mavericks franchise. The number of accolades earned by him is simply surreal. This 2020-2021 campaign too, Doncic set torched the entire league, dropping 40-point triple-doubles at will.
While averaging a staggering 27.7 points, 8 rebounds and 8.6 assists per game, the 6-foot-7 point forward led his team to an impressive 42-30 record, clinching the 5th seed in the West.

“Luka Doncic is already the greatest Mavericks player ever”: Dirk Nowitzki
Despite being knocked out by Kawhi Leonard and his Clippers team, Luka Doncic was by far the best player in the series. Putting a whopping 35.7 points, 10.3 assists and 7.9 rebounds per game, Doncic was simply unstoppable.
Numerous analysts, players and fans gave huge props to the 2-time All-Star during his magnificent first round performance. However, the greatest compliment that Doncic could possibly receive was just a few moments before the start of the Clippers-Mavericks Game 7. As Dirk Nowitzki was entering Staples Center, a reporter asked the German:
“What’s the best advice you’ve given to Luka?”
“I don’t think he needs any of my advice”, Dirk answered.
“Do you think it is possible that he (Luka) will ever eclipse you (Nowitzki) as the greatest Mav of all time?”
“He already has… He’s playing unbelievable”, Nowitzki humbly replied.

Keep in mind, this is coming from the best Mavs player and one of the greatest power forward of all time. The fact that a 14-time All-Star, MVP, champ and Finals MVP, is calling a 22-year-old, who has yet to move past the first round of the playoffs, as the greatest Mavericks player, already tells us a lot about Luka Doncic. Clearly, the sky is the roof for this young prodigy.
