“Max Verstappen, he can do it”– F1 team boss puts money on Red Bull championship win
“Max Verstappen, he can do it”– Gunther Steiner puts his money on the Red Bull drivers after finding Mercedes making mistakes.
In the last two races, Red Bull’s title challenge has made a complete turn, as they lead the constructors’ championship race, while Max Verstappen leads the drivers’ championship race with a marginal difference against Lewis Hamilton.
Gunther Steiner has now commented on the title challenge and predicts that Verstappen might take away the title, as Mercedes is under pressure and making mistakes.
“They come under pressure. You have to take more risk under pressure,” he said to RTL. “Red Bull is doing a good job, it’s possible that they win it. I think then Max Verstappen in particular, he can do it.”
He remarked that Verstappen is not his old self now and makes no mistakes, whereas he also finds Sergio Perez to be a good second driver that every team needs.
“He also takes a lot of risks. Checo is also slowly getting used to the car. The victory in Baku also gives him more confidence and extra points for Red Bull in the battle for the title,” Steiner concluded.
The French GP is a new turn for Max Verstappen
While, Red Bull couldn’t have asked for a better result for the constructors’ race, Verstappen would have been glad if he could have run away with 25-26 (one point for the fastest lap) points on Sunday extended his lead against Hamilton even more.
But, after the crash, things could have been much worse for his title race, so the Dutchman would be glad to still have a lead, even if it is of four points.
Now, from the street circuits, F1 finally heads back to normal tracks, and it remains to be seen how the contest will fold out in France.
