“LaMelo Ball, you know you can’t f**k with Anthony Edwards”: The Timberwolves rookie calls out the Hornets guard for not being deserving of Rookie of the Year honors
Anthony Edwards takes to Twitter to say that LaMelo Ball cannot f**k with him and that he should give his ROTY trophy back to Ant.
Most of the awards that were handed out this season were locks such as the MVP, MIP, and even the DPOY. However, the Rookie of the Year race between Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball was perhaps the most exciting awards race of them all. This was probably why the NBA held out on announcing the winner until all other honors were presented.
In a ROTY race that wasn’t particularly close, LaMelo Ball overwhelmed Anthony Edwards by snagging 84 first place votes while the latter could only muster up a measly 15. This is quite shocking as it shows the voters do not care all too much availability when it comes to the Rookie of the Year award and Ball missed nearly 2 months of action.
With averages of 19.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists a night, the ‘Ant-Man’ could not seem to surpass the high standards Ball had set before sustaining his hand injury.
Anthony Edwards believes LaMelo Ball does not deserve to win the ROTY award.
Edwards has been a media darling throughout his rookie season as he’s produced several hilarious clips that made him more lovable than he already was. Along with his press cons, comes a sense of nonchalance towards anything.
In one of his Instagram stories from yesterday, the ROTY candidate posted an opinion from a friend that called out Melo for not deserving to win the award. However, after some time, he would go on to delete the story from his account.

This still does not change the fact that Anthony Edwards believes he was the rightful winner of that award and was ‘snubbed’ from winning it. Also, coupling this opinion of his with the vulgarity of what he posted goes to show that the Timberwolves rookie is ready to call out anybody, at any time.
