Called off meaning in cricket: When will play start in WTC Final 2021 Day 2 in Southampton?
WTC Final 2021 Day 2: The second day of the historic World Test Championship 2021 will allure eyeballs after a washed out Day 1.
During the first day of the ongoing final match of the ICC World Test Championship between India and New Zealand in Southampton, play was called off (no play possible) due to continuous rain at the venue.
Having started yesterday, rain continued to pour down without a halt which made it difficult for officials to even conduct the toss. It was around the second session that the umpires had scheduled an inspection for 07:30 PM (IST).
Having said that, rain started to pour down yet again to brush aside all hopes of some play on Day 1 at the Ageas Bowl. It was at this point in time that the play was called off for the day.
Given the build-up to the historic final, inclement weather condition in Southampton witnessed a lot of dejected fans around the globe as the move of hosting an ICC event in England (where it generally rains) once again faced severe criticism.
When will play start in WTC Final 2021 Day 2 in Southampton?
Needless to say, all eyes will be on the second day of the match now. It is worth mentioning that the start time of the second day will remain the same, i.e., 03:00 PM (IST).

In the general run of things, officials tend to make the most of a washed out day by starting 30 minutes early on the following day. The same won’t be the case tomorrow because the ICC (International Cricket Council) has already kept a reserve day for this match.
Supposing that the minimum amount of overs aren’t completed in the first five days, a sixth day can be used to complete the overs. With the first day getting washed out now, expect the match to be played till the sixth day.
