“We can beat them anywhere”– Christian Horner on Mercedes after French GP quali success
“We can beat them anywhere”– Christian Horner is super-confident about his team’s contention for the title against Mercedes.
Red Bull had an amazing competition with Mercedes during the qualifying round, with the former edging past the latter with only two-tenths of a second difference.
With Red Bull now edging past over Mercedes in a “standard circuit”, Christian Horner seems serious about his team’s abilities, and claims they can beat the Brackley based team anywhere.
“This has really been a Mercedes stronghold in recent years,” says Christian Horner after Verstappen’s pole. “If we can beat them here then really we can beat them anywhere,” said Horner.
In the last two races, it was perceived that Red Bull is a better team on the street circuits, but may lose against Mercedes on normal tracks. But the picture is kind of different right now.
Though, Red Bull has also installed a new engine ahead of this Grand Prix, which might have affected the results, with Honda explaining the new changes introduced in the power unit.

Need to recover 25 points loss in Baku
With Verstappen crashing in the last race, he lost his 25 points in the drivers’ championship, and Red Bull technically lost 18 points, so Verstappen is eyeing to clear off that bill.
“So far it’s been a really positive weekend, on a track where it’s normally been a bit difficult for us,” says Verstappen. “To get pole position feels really nice. It’s a great day. We have to finish it off tomorrow and try and get the 25 points we lost in Baku.”
With the first part of the triple-header coming to an end, Red Bull would be aiming to grab the maximum out of it.
