Kawhi Leonard may not be able to make an impact on the court right now because of his knee injury, but the Clippers superstar is certainly still involved.

Leonard went out in game 4 against the Utah Jazz, suffering a knee injury. The severity of the injury hasn’t been confirmed yet (officials feel it may be as bad as an ACL injury), but he’ll definitely be out for at least game 2 after missing game 1.

However, the knee injury hasn’t prevented him from being a team player. His teammate, Luke Kennard, revealed that Leonard is always involved in the background, coaching the team despite his injury.

Kawhi Leonard Leads From Behind The Scenes Says Luke Kennard

It has long been known that Kawhi Leonard isn’t the same kind of superstar that others are like. He’s not vocal, he’s not extremely chatty, he rarely (if ever) takes to social media to express his views, and he’s soft spoken from what we can see.

However, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t a great leader. He’s committed to being a winner, and he’ll do all that he can in whatever way possible. When he’s healthy, that means letting his game do the talking instead of his actual words.

When he’s out with an injury, it means being a coach from the sidelines, encouraging his teammates along while providing valuable input to help them play better.

The Clippers will definitely need any help they can get. Already without their best player, they’ve fallen into a 1-0 hole against the no. 2 seed Phoenix Suns who were without Chris Paul. Devin Booker dropped a 40 point triple double to lead the Suns.

However, the Clippers have been known to fall behind in series, coming back from down 2-0 twice now. If any group can make a comeback, it’s definitely this one. Resilience is in their blood. Game 2 is tonight at 8pm EST. It’ll be interesting to see if Kawhi’s coaching can lead the Clippers to a game 2 victory.
