“Brook Lopez is playing veteran mind games on Trae Young”: How the Bucks’ veteran big tried to throw the Hawks’ star off in Game 1 loss
Bucks’ veteran big Brook Lopez was spotted playing small tricks on Trae Young during Game 1, Twitter calls it ‘veteran mind games’
The Milwaukee Bucks fell short to the Atlanta Hawks tonight. The Hawks beat Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks 116-113 at the Fiserv Forum. This loss marks the first loss that the Bucks have encountered in Fiserv Forum in the 2021 Playoffs.
Trae Young came on a mission and seemed virtually unstoppable. Despite his 6’1, 180 pounds frame, the Hawks’ star managed to score at ease and from whatever area he wanted to. Young finished the night with 48 points, 11 assists, and 7 rebounds.
As for the Bucks, Giannis Antetokounmpo almost recorded a triple-double, scoring 34 points, grabbing 12 rebounds, and dishing 9 assists. Jrue Holiday added 33 points and 10 assists. It was a battle that was fought tooth and nail, but the Hawks emerged victorious.
Brook Lopez tries ‘veteran mind tricks’ to throw Trae Young off his game
With age comes experience, and Brook Lopez certainly has plenty of that. The 33-year-old Lopez is playing his 13th season in the league currently. He has a lot of playoff experience and knows how to bother someone without actually bothering them.
During Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals, we saw a glimpse of the same. Hawks were out on the offense, and Lopez was spotted gently tapping Young’s shoulder to distract him.

Whether those tricks worked or not, does not matter, Brook Lopez tried his best to divert Young’s focus. However, it was nice to see that there were no hard feelings between the two, and it was taken as a joke. After the game, Young was seen dapping up Lopez.
With game 1 in the rearview, the Bucks would like to change the narrative heading into Game 2. They would not want a repeat of the Nets’ series where they had to dig themselves out of a 0-2 hole. Game 2 takes place on Friday in Milwaukee.
