“That is the very best we could do today”– Charles Leclerc submits to his limitations at the Red Bull ring on Saturday

Ferrari after a good stint in the street races are now struggling to perform in the “standard circuits”, as they fail to get the cut in the top 3 rows ahead of the race on Sunday in Spielberg. While there arch enemies of this season– McLaren are slowly taking the lead in the best from the rest.

Charles Leclerc, who managed to drag his Ferrari to the Q3 felt dejected in the end, as he couldn’t land a decent spit for himself for Sunday, and accepted the limitations of the car.

“Good job guys. That is the very best we could do today.. There was not much more in my fast lap,” said Leclerc on his team radio after grabbing P7 in qualifying.

Last year on the same track, Leclerc grabbed a P2 podium, which was technically Ferrari’s worst campaign in this century probably, so naturally, Leclerc aimed for a competitive output.

Carlos Sainz had no answer

While Leclerc felt disappointment towards his performance, Carlos Sainz would be having no words for this underwhelming day in Austria.

The Spaniard fetched a podium two races before, and since then it has been a slippery slope to his contention in the championship race this season. Meanwhile, his former teammate Lando Norris is riding high at current P3 position in the table.

Though, McLaren is relying only on one driver for points with Daniel Ricciardo’s recent struggles, Ferrari’s debacles have kept them on a steady course. Only a chaotic Sunday can change the fortunes of the Maranello based team, with the slippery turns at the Red Bull ring proving  be to be the biggest fear of all drivers in the grid.
