“I don’t really care”– Pierre Gasly sees no point in punishing Charles Leclerc after the race

“I don’t really care”– Pierre Gasly doesn’t feel it’s pointless to punish Charles Leclerc after the race, as it won’t make any difference to him.

Pierre Gasly was at a brilliant position before the start of the race, but it was spoilt by his own dearest friend Charles Leclerc, who reportedly puncture his tyre, with a contact in the very first lap.

The French race driver reveals how heartbreaking his exit from the race. According to him, things were not in his hands, and it was frustrating to not finish the race like that.

“I did one corner on four tyres and then the rest of the lap I was either on three or even two,” Gasly told Sky Sports F1. “There was small contact with Charles and then the tyre blew off and that was it. It is frustrating.”

Leclerc was left without any punishment, rather won the driver of the award for his recovery. When asked Gasly about the requirement of a penalty on Leclerc, he claimed that it was now pointless to do it.

“Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t really care about that because our race was over already so it is not going to change anything whether there is a penalty or not.

“Obviously very disappointing because the car was good all weekend. We had a great quali and I think there was a good opportunity to score some big points so yeah, just extremely disappointed not to be a part of this race.”

Alpha Tauri strong at Spielberg

Alpha Tauri was sure of picking up points from the Red Bull ring, especially from Gasly, who made a P6 start in college. But this tragic end to his race failed him to do it.

However, his teammate Yuki Tsunoda also finished P10, despite his impressive P8 start for Sunday, bagging at least a point. Though, this time there is a next time, as the following race will be at the same venue.
