“Luka, Kawhi Leonard, Porzingis, Hardaway, that’s a Championship team!”: NBA Analyst believes the Klaw’s title chances are higher in Dallas than Los Angeles
Rumors suggest Clippers forward Kawhi Leonard may leave Los Angeles to join the Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks or even the New York Knicks.
The Clippers recently lost out in the WCF against the Suns. It was a big jolt for coach Tyronn Lue and his men as they certainly looked like a Championship contender this season.
However, there is a possibility of a body blow to the Clippers’ title chances. Talismanic forward Kawhi Leonard can become an unrestricted free agent this offseason if he refuses his player option.
There are already rumours in the market that suggest that Leonard may look for challenges elsewhere. The Dallas Mavericks have been in the news for some time now.
The Mavs are desperate to strengthen their supporting cast around Luka Doncic. Hence pairing Doncic with Leonard will be fantastic. Especially when they already have players like Kristaps Porzingis and Tim Hardaway Jr.
Signing the two time NBA Champion will make the Mavs an overwhelming favourite for next season. They have already appointed Jason Kidd as their new chief coach and JJ Varea joins the team as his assistant.
So they have the coaching personnel to manage a star-studded dressing room. Hence if it happens it will be one of the biggest moves of the offseason in the NBA. While it is far from completion, still it has got people talking about it.
“Luka, Kawhi Leonard, Porzingis, Hardaway- that’s a Championship team!”: Colin Cowherd
Recently NBA journalist Colin Cowherd analysed the situation of Kawhi Leonard and how a move out of California might be beneficial for him. He then compared the opportunities at both Miami and Dallas. Concluding that the Mavs suit Leonard perfects in all aspects.
“It is perfect for Dallas as they need a #2, Porzingis is a great #3 but a weak #2. Now with Leonard’s arrival, Porzingis can be their #3. So now Luka, Kawhi, Porzingis, Hardaway- that’s a Championship team! Also, Dallas has cap space, Miami doesn’t and that makes a lot of sense.”
Dallas is the right fit for Kawhi Leonard:

The move will immediately improve the Mavericks and will make Jason Kidd’s life a lot easier as a coach. However, getting Leonard won’t be that easy for Dallas.
They definitely have a lot of competition in form of the New York Knicks and Miami Heat. He may also choose to stay with the Clippers by signing his player deal for the next season.
