“Kevin Durant, you gotta say f**k it like LeBron James did”: When Warriors’ Head Coach Steve Kerr asked the Slim Reaper to be like the Lakers’ superstar
A throwback to when Warriors’ HC Steve Kerr talked to Kevin Durant and advised him to take a page from LeBron James’ book
Kevin Durant and his sharp social media personality are secret to none. Things had not been that bad when KD was in OKC. However, ever since Durant made his way to the Bay, the trolls on the internet just got worse. Even though superteams were nothing new at that point, never had a team this deadly been assembled in the NBA. This had all fans except the ones that supported the Warriors, trolling Kevin Durant for his move.
KD, being who he is, did not back down, and fired right back at the trolls whenever he got a chance. Even though he did not get into any trouble for his actions, they still were bothersome to people on the team, including head coach Steve Kerr.
Steve Kerr asked Kevin Durant to be more like LeBron James
When Steve Kerr asked KD to change, and become like LeBron James or Michael Jordan, he did not want KD to change his game. Instead, he wanted Durant to grow a thicker skin, and stop going after the trolls.
Kerr, in the first 10 minutes of ‘The Sullivan Interview’, shared what he had told Durant,
“You know what I respect about LeBron? I respect the fact that when he got to Miami and he got sick of the narratives, sick of the hatters, all the talk. You know what he did? LeBron just said f—k it and was great. Same with Michael, same with Kobe. Same with all the greats.
“They all had to say f—k it and then they were all on that next level. So you know what you gotta do? You just gotta say ‘f—k it’ like LeBron did.”

Durant could have changed himself and did what his coach wanted him to. However, that is not the brand Kevin Durant has created. His interaction with fans and haters alike is what makes him who he is today. Durant has ever since responded to the statement as well.
