“They really put Kyle Kuzma over Brandon Ingram”: NBA Fans react to a poll from 2017 predicting Kuzma would be the most successful out of the young Lakers’ core
Fans go wild on Twitter as NBA Central posts an old Fans Poll putting Kyle Kuzma as the best future player out of the Lakers young core
When one hears the name Los Angeles Lakers, they think of either the Kobe era Lakers or the LeBron era. One almost always forgets about the time between Kobe retiring and LeBron signing with the Lakers. The 2017 Lakers are almost always forgotten by everyone.
The Lakers in 2017 looked like they had a secure future, with strong young talents such as Kyle Kuzma, Julius Randle, Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball, D’Angelo Russell, Jordan Clarkson, and Larry Nance Jr. However, most of these players, who are currently well respected for their game, were still developing in the Lakers. During the 2017 season, there was a fan poll that asked which of the four: Kyle Kuzma, Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Julius Randle would have more All-Star appearances in their career.

Fans go wild as Kyle Kuzma had won the 2017 poll
Fast forward to 2021, Kyle Kuzma is the only one out of the four who is still on the Lakers and has a ring to his name. However, his career growth has not been as high as some of the others. Julius Randle is leading the Knicks, made them a playoff contender, and is one of the candidates for the Most Improved Player. Brandon Ingram is one of the two top players in the Pelicans and has been doing an excellent job all year. Lonzo Ball has improved a lot since his days in LA and is a genuine on-ball threat. Out of the four, BI and Randle have one All-Star appearance to their name to date.
NBA Fans know this, and hence when this poll showed up, they could not keep themselves from sending in their comments.

It’s never easy to predict which young star might rise to stardom at what rate. While Kuz is the only champ on this list, he certainly isn’t the best player among these four. However, there is still a long career ahead of each of them to make their cases.
