“Giannis block on Deandre Ayton is completely overrated!”: Skip Bayless belittles the 2x MVP for his clutch block on the Suns center in Bucks Game 4 win
Skip Bayless takes to Twitter to let everybody know that the Giannis block on Suns superstar, Deandre Ayton, is completely overrated.
As Zach Lowe said, “Everybody loves a 2-1 Game 4.” Last night’s bout between the Bucks and the Suns turned into a classic down the stretch with several memorable moments. Giannis played exceptionally well as he dropped an efficient 26 point and played second fiddle to Khris Middleton, who had 42 points in the best game of his career.
The Suns had merely one player step up big time for them and that was Devin Booker. Though he carelessly garnered 5 fouls early in the fourth quarter, his offense kept them in the game for three whole quarters. Chris Paul on the other hand, had a uncharacteristically sloppy game as he turned the ball over 5 times.
Deandre Ayton played solid defense all night long and when it came time to produce on the offensive end of the floor in the clutch, he couldn’t come through for Phoenix. The Bucks have Giannis to thank for this.

The aforementioned botched play by Ayton took place with less than 80 seconds left in the game. The Suns had an opportunity to tie the game at 101 a piece and so Devin Booker curled off a screen set by Deandre Ayton to penetrate down low. This led to a well-placed lob for Ayton that Giannis, out of nowhere, blocked.

That Giannis block of Ayton is being completely overrated. IT WAS A LOB. Giannis had plenty of time to go up and meet Ayton as he was catching the ball at its peak. He almost couldn’t help but block it.

As seen above, Skip Bayless did not find this play by Giannis to be all too enticing. This is a shame because what the ‘Greek Freak’ did on that play is nothing short of spectacular. He was switched onto D-Book in that play, anticipated a lob, and immediately jumped in the opposite direction to meet Deandre at the rim.
That block was a display of pure athleticism and an overall feel for the game. Unfortunately for the Suns, they could not replicate the magic of the ‘Valley-Oop’ last night. With the series heading back to Phoenix for Game 5, the Bucks will need to steal one to hopefully finish off the series at Fiserv arena.
