“It’s a significant amount that hurts us”– How much Red Bull has to pay to repair Max Verstappen’s RB16B
“It’s a significant amount that hurts us”– Red Bull has to pay around €750,000 to put Max Verstappen’s RB16B back on the road.
Max Verstappen’s car suffered a 51G crash on the first lap of the British Grand Prix; the image of the car after the crash was not pleasant, as the whole car had taken a heavy toll from the damage.
But to return Max Verstappen’s car on the circuit, Red Bull will have to carry a huge expense, which according to Helmut Marko, is a huge hit for the Milton-Keynes based team.
“The car is total loss,” said Marko to RTL, who also revealed that the cost of repairs is currently estimated at €750,000. “It’s a significant amount that hurts us, especially in times of budgetary constraints.”
After Verstappen’s crash, Red Bull faced a huge cut-off in the lead against Mercedes, and they could only use Sergio Perez to eliminate a single more point for Lewis Hamilton from the fastest lap while sacrificing a top-10 finish.
Be very scared, Mercedes.
Marko has further revealed that Verstappen is doing well and would return for the Hungarian Grand Prix, where he would be ready to take on the seven-time world champion.
Moreover, Red Bull is also planning to re-appeal, as it has not found the 10-second penalty justifiable, and they need stricter action against the 36-year-old race driver.
“An appeal is only possible if there is new evidence. There doesn’t seem to be any.” Red Bull and Verstappen want to put Sunday’s race behind them quickly as the Formula One circus will travel to Budapest in two weeks.
“Max will take his seat in the car again. He is very motivated,” Marko concluded. Now, it remains to be seen who manages to fetch an advantage of the significant points gap in the table for the world championship.
