“If there was a situation where we gave someone else a chance”– Toto Wollf will personally ensure an F1 seat in another team for Valtteri Bottas, if he is replaced
“If there was a situation where we gave someone else a chance”– Toto Wolff promises to give Valtteri Bottas a space in another team.
Valtteri Bottas is speculated to leave Mercedes this season, as George Russell is due a promotion from Williams to the spot next to Lewis Hamilton. And the team principal Toto Wolff has apparently made up his mind on it.
Now, to further fuel the speculation, Wolff has also insisted that just in case, he has to replace Bottas from his team, he will make sure to give him a spot in another team.
“If there was a situation where we gave someone else a chance, I would and not just for my relationship with him. I see it as a duty because he deserves a great future,” said Wolff.
“He has been there. teammate with the best driver in F1 history and it’s not easy to shine under these circumstances. But he’s fantastic.”
Valtteri Bottas is a perfect teammate
Wolff opines that Bottas is among the best drivers he worked with, and it is not an easy job to have a stable work relationship with Hamilton, who according to him is the greatest F1 driver, and praised him while citing his recent British GP performance.
“Valtteri was very quick,” Wolff said of Bottas. “Lewis was coming back from further on hard tires and was in a different class from the others. Valtteri was second fastest and helped Lewis.”
“He’s a very good team member with the right personality, Wolff concluded. Bottas’ contract with Mercedes will come to an end after this year.
The Finnish driver is ready to accept his fate with Mercedes, but he wants the clarity of the decision soon, and Wolff has promised to do the same to ensure stability by the year-end.
