Yuvraj Singh had been offered a retirement game by BCCI
Indian legend Yuvraj Singh was offered a retirement match by the BCCI. The second ODI between India and Sri Lanka was supposed to be Yuvraj Singh’s chance to say goodbye to the national team in front of his home fans.
But the southpaw refused BCCI’s offer, as he still feels that he has the ability to make a comeback in to the national side.
While on one hand the chance to retire in front of your own fans is something that most players would dream of, on the other this offer by the BCCI signals the end of the road for Yuvi in international cricket. Or at least they think so.

If Yuvi does indeed decide to leave the game any time soon, he can look back on his career with enormous pride as the all-rounder was crucial to some of Indian cricket’s greatest moments over the two decades.
The left hander was pivotal in India’s T20 triumph and was Man of the Series when Indian lifted the World Cup in 2011. Post the enormous high of 2011, Yuvi was diagnosed with cancer and had to battle for his life before once again returning to the field.
In what is one of the great moments in Indian cricket, Yuvraj came back and played for his nation. But he was no longer the player that he once was as fitness and inconsistency deprived him of a consistent place in the team.
While no doubt there were flashes of his glorious best, Yuvi’s best days are certainly behind him and it is tough to see him nail down a place in the squad in time for the 2019 World Cup.
But then again, you should never, ever, count out Yuvraj Singh!
