“Toto Wolff is lying”– Dutch F1 expert calls Mercedes boss a hypocrite; believes his team made a blunder with Lewis Hamilton during race restart
“Toto Wolff is lying”– Dutch Formula 1 expert calls out Mercedes boss’ “hypocrisy” and also talks about the blunder his team made.
Dutch Formula 1 reporter Jack Plooij makes a harsh remark on Toto Wolff as a liar and hypocrite while mentioning two issues with him during the recent race in Hungary.
He initially accused Lewis Hamilton of spilling oil in the fire by responding to the fans booing the seven-time world champion after the Hungarian Grand Prix qualifying.
Then Toto Wolff joins in on that again by pointing the finger at the orange fans,” he said in an interview with Motorsport.com. “But that makes no sense at all because then you’re just throwing oil on the fire.”
“And what I found very disappointing is that as Mercedes and Lewis Hamilton you talk about respect for years and enforce that t-shirts have to be worn, but then don’t show any respect yourself. I don’t like that,” Plooij continues.
Don’t believe a word by Toto Wolff.
Further, Plooij insists that he doesn’t believe a word by Wolff, who called it a right decision to keep Hamilton out with the intermediaries during the race restart, while the rest of the grid went into the pit to get the slicks.
Toto Wolff believe it was “100% the right decision” to keep Hamilton on intermediates at the restart.

“Toto Wolff is lying. He is justifying it with hindsight because they won, but that can never have been a good decision”, concludes Plooij. The pit reporter has a point as it was later revealed that Hamilton asked to be boxed with others and reported the track to be dry.
Why this was so funny. Only @LewisHamilton starting the race. Where are other Guys. Its the Strategic error made by @MercedesAMGF1 by not putting lewis on Soft tyres rather than leaving him on Interns in Dry Conditions pic.twitter.com/carqOnj4oY

It ended to be one of the funniest moments when Hamilton was standing alone on the grid during the restart. Also, the 36-year-old slipped down to the last when he came to change his tyres in the next lap, and from there, it was a long hustle to the podium.
