India vs England 2nd Test Man of the Match: Who is the Man of the Match today in England vs India Lord's Test?

IND vs ENG 2nd Test Man of the Match: The Indian batsman was awarded with the Man of the Match award at Lord’s today.

During the fifth day of the second Test of the ongoing India’s tour of England at Lord’s, India have registered an emphatic victory after beating England by 151 runs.

On the back-foot after losing two early wickets on Day 5, it was a phenomenal unbeaten 89-run partnership for the ninth wicket between pacers Mohammed Shami (56 not out) and Jasprit Bumrah (34 not out) which saw them setting England a target of 272 runs in 60 overs.

In the fourth innings, India bundled out the opposition for 120 in 51.5 overs in what will be remembered as a highly entertaining match due to various reasons.

Been trusted a lot by captain Virat Kohli in recent times, India pacer Mohammed Siraj was the pick of the bowlers today with his bowling figures of 10.5-3-32-4 comprising of wickets of Jos Buttler (25), Moeen Ali (13) and Sam Curran (0).

Considering the thumping manner in which India played today, it has to be one of their best overseas victories. The fact that England were considered as the favourites this morning speaks highly about the manner in which the visitors played today.

Despite stellar performances from players of both the teams, it was India opening batsman Lokesh Rahul who was declared the “Man of the Match” for scoring his sixth Test century.

Having played second-fiddle to Rohit Sharma (83) for a long time in a 126-run opening partnership, Rahul’s solid defense and resilient temperament saw him looking in control even when he was scoring runs at a strike rate of less than 30.

“To put on 360 [364] on the board was really crucial, very happy. Been here for a couple of months now and been working really hard on our skills. Even in the first game at Trent Bridge, the batsmen have shown a lot of discipline.

“That’s what you expect with two competitive teams – great skills, and a few words as well. We don’t mind some banter. You go after one of our guys and all XI of us will come back,” Rahul was quoted as saying by Sky Sports during the post-match presentation ceremony.
