BREAKING: India to announce squad for South Africa series after Feroz Shah Kotla Test
The Board of Control for Cricket in India delayed the announcement of India squad for South Africa series. Network 18 reporter termed it as a ‘slower process’ by BCCI.
The squad was supposed to be announced on November 27 but due to a ‘flight delay’, BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Chaudhary couldn’t make attend the scheduled meeting on time in Nagpur if sources are to be believed.
According to a BCCI official, the announcement will be made just after the conclusion of the third and final Test match against Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla, Delhi scheduled to be held on December 2.
Though it was a strange reason for the delay in the squad, the BCCI official quoted that the strategy was to single out the best players during the ending stage of final Test.
The senior BCCI official told that there was no point of speeding up things as they are looking to fill some spaces to fill before taking the call.
“The idea was to wait a bit and pick a team either during the finishing stages of the third Test between India and Sri Lanka at the Feroz Shah Kotla or wait till the game ends.
There is no hurry as most of the players pick themselves and it is just a few spots here and there that need to be looked into before making the final call,” said the official to Cricket Next.
