Gautam Gambhir wants people to not be overly critical of India’s series loss in South Africa
Gautam Gambhir has come out in support of Virat Kohli and co. after India succumbed to another overseas loss, after the 135 run loss in Centurion last night.
The series loss was Virat Kohli’s maiden one as captain of the Indian team(across formats) and is probably signs of things to come as India have major overseas tours ahead of them in the rest of the year.
In the post match press conference, a feisty Virat took it upon himself to answer a South African journalist’s slight jibe of India having won most of its Test at home, by saying that it ‘didn’t really matter’, and that even South Africa did not come close to winning whilst touring India.
Kohli though has been scrutinised for his team selection, after leaving out Rahane from both the Tests, and dropping Bhuvi after his stupendous performance in the first Test at Cape Town.
Rohit Sharma’s inclusion on the basis of ‘current form’ has baffled many, and they look for better judgement from Kohli, as team selections need to be based on conditions rather than current form, or should at least be a combination of the two.
Gautam Gambhir though has come out in support of Kohli and co., saying that this is India’s first series loss in a very long time and that credit had to be given to the opposition for scripting a great series win over India.
Its time to show support for Indian team and not being over-the-top critical. This was the team that had such a fabulous run, two games don’t make them bad. Rather than being severe on our boys, let’s just give credit to d opposition @BCCI. Simple: Well played @OfficialCSA

The Indian cricket team would now be hoping to salvage some pride in the final Test at the Wandrers, as Kohli would be hoping to avoid a whitewash in a series where South Africa haven’t really blown India away.
Should we stop being overly critical of India’s performance in South Africa?
