MS Dhoni comments on India’s series loss to South Africa
India’s dismal performance away in South Africa seemed eerily familiar to Indian cricket fans all over the world.
The last six years have seen the Indian team churn out one abysmal performance after another in foreign conditions, with the nadir being the consecutive 4-0 series losses in England and Australia back in 2011-12.
There was a lot of optimism surrounding the current Indian team, as Virat Kohli’s men proved unstoppable over the last 15 months.

One of the key pillars of this Indian side was it’s bowling attack, as for the first time in years India had a quality bowling attack, capable of taking 20 wickets in foreign conditions.
While the bowling line-up lived up to it’s hype in South Africa, it was the batsmen that failed to deliver. India’s batting collapse in the second test was more disappointing, because the track was similar to the ones that they would face back home in India.
With the series already lost, India will be looking to win back some pride in Johannesburg. The team management is expected to make whole sale changes to the starting XI, with the likes of Rahane and Bhuvneshwar expected to make a return to the side.
Former India test captain, MS Dhoni, has come out in support of the side as he feels they need to look at the positives rather than focus on the negatives.
“To win a Test match, you need to take 20 wickets, we have taken 20 wickets. If you can’t take 20 wickets, the next option is to draw a Test match. How you can draw a Test match is by giving less runs and by scoring runs. Third option is there is no option because you are always looking for a win,” MS Dhoni quoted.
“If you cannot take 20 wickets, you cannot win a Test irrespective of where you play — at home or outside. That’s a biggest positive, that we are taking 20 wickets. When we can take 20 wickets, this means we are always in a position to win Test match. Once you start scoring runs, you will be there,” the former Indian captain noted.
