Chelsea may replace Conte with Enrique in the next few weeks
When asked if he was worried about his future following Chelsea’s astonishing 3-0 loss at home to Bournemouth, Conte put on a brave face and said that he was relaxed about his status at Chelsea’s manager.
Who is he kidding?!
Even before the season, Antonio Conte seemed pretty upset at Chelsea Football club. After a brilliant debut season in England, Conte was expected to take Chelsea to new heights this year.
But his unhappiness with the club’s transfer policy made him irate as he could not land most of his top targets. Frustrated withe club’s decision makers, Conte publicly blasted his higher ups in an explosive press conference in the summer.
While his season started badly, Conte managed to steady the ship as Chelsea slowly started to climb up the table. But things have taken a turn for the worse lately, as Chelsea were knocked out of the Carabao Cup and then suffered a shock loss in their attempts to remain in the top four.
Apparently many players in the squad have asked Conte to reduce the number of training sessions in order to prevent any injuries.
The Italian is now unhappy that the players are complaining about his sessions in addition to his existing issues with the club hierarchy. All this is creating a potentially dangerous situation for Conte which is why many members of the Chelsea staff feel that he may soon lose his job.
Chelsea are known to be a ruthless club, and have never succumbed to showing compassion to their managers. The fact that Conte won the league and reached the FA Cup final last season will count for nothing if they feel that he is not up to the mark right now.
So much so, that there is even talk that Roman Abramovich may consider removing him ahead of Chelsea’s big Champions league clash against Barcelona later this month.
According to reports, Abramovic is looking to replace Conte with former Barcelona manager, Luis Enrique. Enrique had an incredible time at Barcelona, winning a treble in his first season at the club.
While it seems unlikely that Roman will sack Conte right now, you would not put it past the Russian to do something as dramatic as this!
