Virat Kohli goes past AB de Villiers to become the all-time run scorer in India-SA series

Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been in a rich vein of form in South Africa. His consistency with the bat is almost absolutely incredible, as the Indian skipper has taken his game to a whole new level over the last two years.

Coming in to the South Africa series, Kohli knew that he had a great chance to underline his status as the best batsmen of this generation. Kohli, along with Steve Smith and Joe Root have proven themselves to a cut above the rest in all formats of the game.

But Kohli and Smith are pulling away from the rest, as Smith is achieving Bradman-esque numbers in tests, while Kohli is rivaling Viv Richards and Sachin Tendulkar as the greatest limited overs batsman this game has ever seen.

Kohli began the ODI series with a splendid century in Durban, as he scored yet another century in a chase. Another good good of 46 was then followed by an exceptional 160 at Cape Town, as the Indian captain took his batting to another stratosphere all together.

His reputation has increased tenfold across the globe, as the champion batsman broke multiple records en route to a monumental 160. He anchored the innings through the middle overs and then accelerated right at the death.

His scored a very pretty 75 in the fourth ODI, before he lost his wicket after playing a needless shot. Never the less, Kohli went past his good friend and fellow batting great in AB de Villiers, as he became the leading run scorer in a India-South Africa ODI series.

Kohli now has 393 runs, going past ABD’s 358 runs scored in the Proteas’ last visit to India in 2015.

With another two matches to go, you can bet that Kohli will be looking to add another 100 odd runs to his total, and end up with something around 500 runs in the six-match ODI series.

AB makes his return tonight, as one of the greatest entertainers of the game will take part in his first match of the ongoing ODI series.

India will be hoping that AB does not come up with an ‘AB special’, as there is not much that anyone can do when he is on song!
