Kimi Raikkonen issues warning to all F1 teams after Barcelona Testing

Kimi Raikkonen is a confident man, and who wouldn’t be after setting the fastest lap time of the two week testing. While you think he may be satisfied with that time, Raikkonen has actually come out and said that Ferrari could have gone faster had they wanted to.

Sebastian Vettel ended the testing occupying the second place, followed by Fernando Alonso, who had endured a tough testing until the half of the final day.

However, neither Mercedes nor Red Bull were on hyper soft tyres.

According to Pirelli’s calculations, Mercedes could have set a lap time of 1:16.2 if they would have been on the hyper softs.

Raikkonen though is confident that Ferrari could have gone faster and that people shouldn’t be reading much into the lap times set at testing.

“We will see in two weeks [who is fastest],” Raikkonen said.

“I am sure if we want to go faster we can go faster, but it doesn’t mean anything here.

“In two weeks where everybody knows where everyone is, but until that we are only guessing like we were before the testing started, so let’s wait and see.” he added.

Raikkonen lost a lot of track time due to his illness in the second test but was content with how he felt about the balance of the car.

“I guess you always wishing a bit more here and there, laps and trying things,” he said. “It doesn’t matter how many laps you do, you are always kind of wondering.

“There’s endless possibilities to try things, but it doesn’t mean it’s a good thing to try a million things. For sure far from perfect with the weather last week. I was ill but I think in the end we had a decent day, pretty OK feeling it’s not too bad. We are fine with it.

“We will see obviously in the next two weeks where we are in the end. But yeah, a pretty positive day.” Raikkonen concluded.
