MS Dhoni opens up on loss to KXIP
It was the vintage MS Dhoni innings, a slow-start, the required rate going up in the background and the poker face concealing any and every emotion possible.
It seemed like Dhoni had left it too late though, but that is always the case when Dhoni is at the helm of things in a run chase.
With 55 needed of 3 overs, Dhoni decided that it was time go ‘bang-bang’ and ‘bang-bang’ he did.
Mohit Sharma was taken for a ride in the 18th and then Andrew Tye, the death overs specialist too couldn’t get going against the master of the death overs.
MS Dhoni though was battling with a back injury and thus couldn’t strike those wide ones dished out to him, as his back was hindering his movement.
Dhoni was gracious in defeat and credited Chris Gayle and Mujeeb Ur Rehman for being the biggest factors in KXIP’s win.
“Not much going through my mind. They bowled very well, Mujeeb made a difference. I don’t think there was much dew on the ground. They played better than us. We can improve in few areas. Chris’ innings in the first innings and Mujeeb’s bowling made a difference. It was a close game. We will be a safe fielding team and not be an exceptional one. We have to be smart while bowling. We want to keep hitting boundaries here and there and that can make a difference. All the games we have been part of were close, so individuals would have learnt from that.” Dhoni said.
MS Dhoni will now have to assess his back and see if he make it to the XI on Friday.
