WATCH : Manish Pandey notices Sran’s no-ball and saves Shakib
Yesterday’s IPL match of Sunrisers Hyderabad against Kings XI Punjab was yet another thriller, as has been theme of the tournament this year.
SRH were in a tough spot of bother in the powerplay after they were asked to bat first by Kings XI. They lost their 3 top batsmen for 27 runs in just 5 overs. The onus fell on Manish Pandey and Shakib Al Hasan to take innings forward and build a partnership for the home side.
It was last over of the powerplay and Shakib was going all guns blazing against Sran, so that he could build some momentum and put some pressure back on Kings XI.
He missed on the first delivery to score but got the delivery he needed, second time around. It was a short ball outside off stump, perfect delivery to cut for a four or six and get off the mark. But Shakib was not able to middle it, as he only managed to edge it and ball flew right in the pocket of third man fielder.
As soon as Shakib was caught, Manish Pandey was at the face of umpire to check for the front foot no ball. Pandey was sure that he saw something dubious and wanted it to be checked.
It came as an absolute joy for all home fans and despair for Kings XI, when replay showed Sran foot was well ahead of line. This lead to 52 runs partnership between the two and ultimately gave SRH something to defend at 132/6.
In the end SRH successfully defended yet another small total to join CSK at top of the table. This mental alertness and aliveness from Pandey turned the game on it’s head. He was awarded Star Plus Nayi Soch Award for the same.
