Harbhajan Singh does not want to retire at the moment
Harbhajan Singh is veteran in Indian cricket right now, however, he finds himself without an Indian team spot, as Jadeja and Ashwin are preferred in the test format and the wrist spinning duo is preferred in the limited overs formats.
He played his last Test match in 2015 in Galle, Sri Lanka. With the tally of 417 wickets, he is the highest Indian wicket-taker and third in the world among current players.
The IPL too has been kind to Bhajji, as he has won 3 titles with MI and was one of the most celebrated players of that Mumbai franchise for 10 long years.
On Sunday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) won its 3rd IPL title. With the win, Harbhajan Singh became the 3rd player to win 4 IPL titles, along with Rayudu and Rohit Sharma.
Bhajji was dropped from the final last night and thus specualtions arose if he would actually go onto hang up his boots after an illustrious career.
However, Bhajji has confirmed that he won’t retire and will continue to play the game. He also emphasised on the fact that both Yuvi and Gambhir too wouldn’t be retiring any time soon.
“I don’t want to retire now and just to want to continue playing for my fans. Same applies for Yuvraj and Gambhir also,” Harbhajan Singh said.
In the finale, Harbhajan didn’t get a chance to play, Karn Sharma replaced him. He went on to praise the skipper’s decision.
“Dhoni was right that he needed someone who would take the ball away from the batsman. We have seen wrist spinners bowling more and more overs in the IPL compared to finger spinners. But I hope it would change next year. Well done to Karn and glad to be on the winning side,” Harbhajan said, defending Dhoni.
Harbhajan also feels that once again MS Dhoni has proved himself in the IPL and also earned a spot in the World Cup. He also believes that the team has answered the critics who questioned the team on the basis of age factor.
“(MS) Dhoni has proved himself in this IPL and answered his critics. In a way, he has earned his place in the team for World Cup. Whoever questioned that CSK was a team of aged players, have their answer.” he concluded.
