West Ham set £60m price for Manchester United target Marko Arnautovic
West Ham United have slapped a huge £60m price-tag to keep Manchester United’s interest at bay.
Manchester United have received a blow to their chances of acquiring Marko Arnautovic from West Ham. According to report by the Mirror, West Ham have valued Arnautovic at £60m.
Jose Mourinho expressed interest in signing Arnautovic earlier. The Portuguese manager has worked with Austrian 29-year old forward for a brief time during his stint at Inter Milan. Jose Mourinho also watched the Austrian closely during their warm-up match against Poland recently.
Marko Arnautovic has been the player of the season at West Ham this year. The Austrian had a poor start to the league, which directly impacted West Ham’s season as well. However, since the appointment of David Moyes, Arnautovic seemed to gave regained lost form, as he scored 11 goals in 22 games, after going goalless in the first 9.
And now, it seems like West Ham wants to hold Arnautovic from leaving the club. The Mirror reports that Manchester United don’t want to spend more than £35m for the Austrian star. Although, West Ham have clearly stated that the price for which Arnautovic will leave the club will be £60m.
Arnautovic, on the other hand, has expressed interest in a move to Old Trafford. However, he maintains that he or his agent hasn’t received any formal communication from the club.
“It’s nice to hear, I haven’t heard anything from my brother, my agent,” he said.
Earlier, Manchester United completed the signings of Brazilian midfielder Fred and Portuguese defender Diogo Dalot. United are also closing in on Tottenham’s defender Toby Alderweireld, and the fee is reportedly rumoured to be in the region of £55m.
