Mourinho on game vs Crystal Palace: Jose Mourinho spoke after his side’s dismal performance after the game against Palace.

Manchester United suffered another setback to their season as they were held to a 0-0 draw by Crystal Palace in the Premier League. Jose Mourinho’s side was unimpressive throughout the game and paid the price for being sloppy in their attack.

Manchester United, however, have climbed up to 7th in the table, but risk falling down to 8th again as Bournemouth plays Arsenal on Sunday.

It was also the first time when Crystal Palace took a point from Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

One of the rare delights for the home fans at Old Trafford was Victor Lindelofs’s commitment towards the defensive work, even while being injured. The Swedish star tackled and won the ball despite being in pain.

Jose Mourinho spoke about the game in his post-match interview.

Mourinho stated that it was a bad result.

“It’s a bad result, a very bad one. That’s two points lost. The goal was to recover places, to get closer to the top 4 and in the end we lost 2 points. Chelsea and Tottenham are going to fight and we won’t get any points.

“We gave them time to breathe. We were not dynamic enough. It seemed like we were waiting for things to happen and they didn’t happen.”

Mourinho stated that the side has to play with a balance, and that there was a lack of intensity.

“We can not play with nine attackers, we must play with a balance. I think we started very well, but when you play to win games, you don’t stop until you win.

We knew where they were closing and knew where the spaces were, we didn’t have enough aggression or intensity to hurt. We gave the opponent time to have the ball and we didn’t hurry or insist.”

Mourinho also attacked his players for being overconfident while going into the game.

“We did not start with a lack of confidence, but with too much confidence. When you’re home, you want to win and you have to keep going until you do.

Not enough intensity or envy. I think we played the game as if it was one more game. I don’t think it was “one more match”. I think it was a game that we really needed to win. There was not enough heart.

“If I have to make certain choices according to the heart, I will reproach myself, because the heart is not enough, we lack the quality.”
