National Stadium Karachi Test records: Karachi Cricket Stadium Test records and highest innings totals

Having already sealed the series 2-0 after playing some bold, aggressive Cricket all the way through, team England have arrived at the National Stadium in Karachi after 22 years, where they will face the hosts in the third Test and with eyes on a clean sweep.

The English side is certain to play with their ‘Bazball’ approach which has paid rich dividends so far, having won eight of the nine Tests since the Stokes-McCullum duo have joined hands.

The Test will also mark a maiden international appearance for the 18-year-old Rehan Amhed, who will become the youngest English cricketer to make a Test debut. However, he will take the field in the absence of the veteran pacer James Anderson, who has been rested.

As for Pakistan, it will be interesting to see if they do make way for Azhar Ali in the playing XI tomorrow, who announced his retirement on the match eve, after representing Pakistan across 96 Tests.

For those unaware, the Babar Azam-led side have found themselves out of the race of making it through to the World Test Championship final, after suffering losses in the first two Tests.

Hosts Pakistan boast of a good enough record in Karachi in the Test format, having won 23 of the 44 matches they have played at this venue, while drawing 19 and losing only a couple of them.

England, on the other hand, are one of the only two teams to have defeated Pakistan at this venue in the format. Overall, they have played seven Tests in Karachi, winning the solitary time they last played here in 2000, while losing one as well, and drawing five of them.

Highest run-scorers in the Test format at the National Stadium in Karachi are Javed Miandad (1393 runs), Saleem Malik (855 runs), Younis Khan (786 runs), Inzamam-ul-Haq (722 runs), and Shoaib Mohammad (642 runs).

On the other hand, the leading wicket-takers at this venue in the Test format are Abdul Qadir (59 wickets), Imran Khan (51 wickets), Iqbal Qasim (44 wickets), Wasim Akram (41 wickets), and Waqar Younis (38 wickets).
