WATCH: Ajinkya Rahane invites Afghanistan Team to take a photo with the trophy
Afghanistan have been humbled by India in the one-off test at Bangalore, as the Afghans succumbed to an innings defeat against the world number 1 side in less than 2 days.
For the Afghans it was a painful initiation into Test cricket, one that they will learn a lot of from and one that truly reflects the distance that has to be travelled by the current and future generations of Afghan cricketers.
Batting was always going to be the major challenge for Afghanistan as none of their batsmen had made the kind of impact on world cricket as much as their mystery spinners had.
Also, when you are playing against some of the finest bowlers in sub-continental conditions, you are bound to come out short.
The Afghans were dejected after the loss but Ajinkya Rahane’s beautiful gesture would have brought smiles to a lot of those travelling Afghan fans and also those watching the game at home.
During the trophy presentation after the win, Ajinkya Rahane invited the entire Afghanistan team to pose with the trophy along with the Indian team.
Check out the video:
The gesture was well received by the Afghanistan team and there was an air of mutual respect amongst both contingents.
India would have wanted to be pushed a little more, but would be happy with how they conducted themselves on the field.
The team now flies off to Ireland for the two match T20I series.
