Shane Warne 350: MCG crowd stand and applaud at 3:50 PM to honour Warnie during AUS vs SA Boxing Day Test

Australia and South Africa are playing the 2nd test of the 3-match series at the MCG, and it is a Boxing Day test as well. This match is very important in the context of this series, and former Australian legend Shane Warne is also being honoured during the match.

Warne lost his life earlier this year, and MCG was his home ground as well where he scalped his 700th test wicket and also registered a hat-trick during an Ashes match. He also played for Melbourne Stars in the BBL where MCG was his home ground.

Talking about the match, Australia won the toss and opted to bowl first. The bowlers of the side started on a brilliant note and took 5 wickets quite early, but the duo of Kyle Verreynne and Marco Jansen stitched a good partnership.

Shane Warne was a local lad of Victoria and the ongoing Boxing Day Test is a tribute to the late legend. A lot of things have been done to do the same. The players wore floppy hats during the National anthem ahead of the match and the fans were also encouraged to wear floppy hats and apply zinc cream on their faces.

Warne’s test cap was number 350, and number 350 was also printed on the ground at the square. At 3.50 PM on the first day, the whole MCG crowd was on their feet to give tribute to Warne. Warne’s highlights were shown on the screen as well and everyone shouted and sang Warnie’s name during the process.

Warne also has a stand on his name at the MCG, and he was recently honoured in the Big Bash League match as well at the MCG. It is safe to say Warne is one of incons of Australian cricket, and he deserves every bit of it.
