Lewis Hamilton is 37 years old. At this age, most F1 drivers retire and have a relaxed life. Well, there are exceptions. But none, at this age, goes and vie for the championship, and over here, Hamilton is the only one.

Statistically, the most successful F1 driver is on the verge of extending his current contract with Mercedes, which runs till 2023, to further years. That means he is not ready to stop and wants to add more success to his basket.

That even includes vying for the championship. The seven-time-world champion, after having a good year, is prepared to get back for the title challenge and get redemption for Mercedes.

Lewis Hamilton now wants to leave it after beating Michael Schumacher’s record

Right now, Hamilton is levelled with Michael Schumacher in the most numbers of championships won, as both F1 legends have seven titles in their belts.

In his recent interview, Hamilton said he would like to win a championship before he retires. And also remarked that he would love to move away from F1 as a champion, exactly what his former teammate Nico Rosberg did in 2016.

“I think that quitting as reigning world champion is every athlete’s dream. I think so too,” said Hamilton to Formulapassion. Six years ago, Hamilton mocked Rosberg for retiring after winning the championship as he said it was for the first time in Rosberg’s 18-year-long career that he won it, so he wasn’t surprised that the German quit.

It would be ironic that Hamilton now sees the same approach as delightful. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see Hamilton how the Brit comes over newly made obstacles for him to win another championship.

George Russell a big hurdle

In 2022, Mercedes got George Russell by replacing Valtteri Bottas. The young race driver is seen as the Silver Arrows’ future, and even Hamilton has admitted that.

But if Mercedes goes for another championship, Russell in the same car could be an obstacle for Hamilton. He will surely not be docile like Bottas, and seeing Russell is younger and have a prolonged future with Mercedes, the 2018 F2 champion can be preferred.

At this stage, Mercedes must do comprehensive man management to avoid disputes. And not have a disorganized team situation like they had when Hamilton was with Rosberg.
