“It is a Possibility, but We Don’t Feel Comfortable Just Yet.”: Steve Kerr Delivers Injury Update on Stephen Curry, Talks About Klay Thompson

The Golden State Warriors are a different beast when they’re at Chase Center. After finishing a 1-5 road trip, the Warriors headed home and have been 3 and 0. They took on the Memphis Grizzlies on Christmas day and beat them without Stephen Curry or Andrew Wiggins. They’ve won the games against the Hornets and Jazz, two teams they blew road games against.

Last night the Dubs played without Steph, Wiggins, and Klay Thompson. However, with Draymond Green leading the way and the young Warriors stepping up, the team secured a gritty win over the Jazz. With five games left on the homestand, the Dubs would like to keep building on their NBA-best home record and climb the Western standings.

Earlier today, Steve Kerr joined 95.7 The Game’s Damon and Ratto and gave updates on the team.

“Stephen Curry is coming along well”: Steve Kerr

The biggest concern for the Warriors post-Stephen Curry’s injury was its severity and whether it required surgery. Thankfully, it didn’t require surgery, and the timeline for return was four weeks.

It’s been just over two weeks, and Steph is back on the court already. According to Head Coach Steve Kerr, Curry is back to doing things on the court and is progressing well.

“He’s been doing a lot of stuff on the court. He’s getting a lot of good work in. He’s really coming along well and everything is progressing.”

This is great news for all Warriors fans. While the team handles its business on the home court, being at home is excellent for Steph’s shoulder rehab. The fans hope that the team can handle business on the floor and keep the team above .500 while their superstar returns from injury.

Steph was having a season comparable to his unanimous MVP season before getting injured. Fans would hope that he returns with the same fire and can help the Dubs secure a spot within the Top 6 in the West.

Steve Kerr talks about Klay Thompson

There is no doubt that Klay Thompson is an integral part of the Warriors. Coming off two major injuries, Klay did not practice much this summer, and took it easy instead. Working his way back, the team has not let him play the second night of back-to-back games yet.

Talking about the same, Steve Kerr said,

“It is a possibility that Klay can get there at some point but we don’t feel comfortable doing that just yet.”

While Steph’s away, Klay’s presence in the back-to-back games would be a huge boost for the team. However, Kerr and his staff don’t want to risk Klay’s health over a single game, no matter who the opponent is. Maybe as the season progresses, the team will start feeling otherwise.

For now, we’ll have to come to terms with the fact that Klay won’t be available on B2B nights.
