Why M Renshaw not playing today: Why is Max Bryant not playing today’s BBL 12 match between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers at Gabba?

During the 25th match of the ongoing 12th season of the Big Bash League between Brisbane Heat and Sydney Sixers in Brisbane, Brisbane Heat captain Jimmy Peirson has won the toss and chose to bat.

The decision, however, hasn’t returned favourable result at least in the first over as opening batter Colin Munro (10) hit a shot too many to be dismissed on the sixth ball of the match. Having hit a couple of boundaries off Ben Dwarshuis in the first over, Munro mis-timed a fuller delivery for a simple catch to Jordan Silk at mid-off.

Having lost a couple of matches on either side of their solitary victory this season, Heat would be desperate to return to winning ways. Readers must note that even a victory might not aid Brisbane in leaving the eighth position on the points table for now.

Why is Matthew Renshaw not playing today vs Sydney Sixers?

The hosts have made a couple of changes to their Playing XI for this match. Batters Max Bryant and Matthew Renshaw have been replaced by like-to-like but lesser experienced players namely Josh Brown and Nathan McSweeney (both are batting for Heat at The Gabba at the moment).

It is noteworthy that Bryant has been left out on poor form. In the first five matches, all he scored were 56 runs at an average of 11.20 and a strike rate of 116.66.

While Renshaw’s 40 runs across four innings at an average and strike rate of 10 and 83.33 respectively aren’t better by any means but he is primarily not playing this match due to a call-up to Australia’s Test squad for the third Test against South Africa starting at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Wednesday.

Much like the home team, the visiting team has also made a couple of changes bringing in batter Daniel Hughes and all-rounder Sean Abbott for batter Kurtis Patterson and pacer Chris Jordan.
