Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium stats India: Chattogram India Test match all result list

Team India is set to play only its sixth Test match this year, with the first match of the two-Tests series against Bangladesh beginning tomorrow, at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

Notably, this will be India’s first Test match since taking on England in the one-off Test match in July, as they hope to brush aside the series of disappointing results of-late in the White Ball matches.

They however, will yet again begin a series with a host of last-minute changes to the initially picked squad due to some injury-marred players, set to miss at least one of the two matches.

While skipper Rohit Sharma will miss the first Test due to a thumb injury he had picked during the second ODI against Bangladesh, the likes of Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami will miss the entire series due to their failure to recover from the knee and shoulder injuries respectively.

With Jasprit Bumrah yet not fit and available due to his persistent back problem, the pace attack will be relatively young on experience, and will likely be led by Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav, with Jaydev Unadkat roped in as Shami’s replacement in almost the eleventh hour.

First things first, team India is yet to lose a Test match against Bangladesh, having won 9 and drawn 2 out of the 11 matches in the format thus far.

India has so far, played only two Test matches at this venue, back in the years 2007 and 2010. While the former ended in a Draw, the latter resulted in a 113-run victory, with Sachin Tendulkar adjudged the ‘Player of the Match’ for his century (105*) in the first innings.

None of the Indian players who are part of the imminent series squad, have featured in these two aforementioned Tests.

Sachin Tendulkar (253 runs across 4 innings), and Amit Mishra (7 wickets across 2 innings) are the highest run-getter and wicket-taker respectively for India at this venue.

India’s highest innings total at this venue is 413/8 d, during the second innings of the Test against the hosts in January 2010. The lowest innings total, on the other hand, stands at 243/10 from the same match during the first innings.
