New Ferrari team boss Fred Vasseur is holding ‘secret talks’ in Maranello

Fred Vasseur will officially be taking the hot seat of Ferrari team principal from 9 January but some reports suggest that the Frenchman is already having secret meetings with the Maranello-based squad.

There have also been suggestions that some people are at risk of losing their jobs as Vasseur faces the challenge of turning the Scuderia’s fate around.

The Italian giants have been in turmoil ever since the 2008 season when they won their last constructors’ championship. Even the last driver’s title dates back to the 2007 season when Kimi Raikkonen brought the glory home to Maranello.

With numerous regulation changes over the years, the team has failed to develop a championship-winning car and has been in the loop for a long time.

Vasseur is holding talks with the sporting director

Vasseur, who has enjoyed success in junior categories has now been burdened with the task to eradicate the errors and enter 2023 stronger.

While the Frenchman will not officially take his seat until 9 January, it has not stopped him from visiting the Maranello factory or understanding the dynamics of the team.

La Gazzetta Dello Sport reported that Vasseur spent two days in the factory recceing the atmosphere. He also held several talks with the sporting director Laurent Mekies who saw it all go wrong with Ferrari in 2022.

Fred Vasseur hoped to maximise everyone’s performance

So far, it does not look like the 54-year-old is planning to bring new people to the team though rumours are technical director Simone Resta(currently at Haas) might be an addition to the Italian giants.

It is believed that Ferrari saw in Vasseur a man who would maximise everyone’s performance in the team.

Furthermore, as Vasseur is taking the same gradual approach he took at Sauber in boosting morale it is clear that strategic manager Inaki Rueda and other technical managers who have been with the team since 2016 have been put under the magnifying glass after 2022, as per Italian media.
